De La Barrracuda Gets - A Barracuda!

Slick returned to the wall at De La Barracuda with his crew, and added some graffiti and a big barracuda to the front of the building.

Really beautiful fish.

Think Slick has the 'S' on the far left, and not sure who the other letters are from.

And its an interesting wall the way the pieces come together. Not sure if this is the finished version or if more of it will get filled in.

Daily Barracuda Update

The art going up has slowed down a bit, but there is some new quality stuff. Click the jump for more

Street artist 'Dusty' put up some cool pieces including the abstract shape paste and an electrical socket.

Daily Barracuda Update

There really does need to be a daily update to the changes in the art in this parking lot. There is always stuff happening, and the new changes include the drama of stuff being ripped down, and new art from 2wenty, Subtle, Morley and more.

Love it or hate it, this place gets slammed.

And while the placement is definitely not structured, we are diggin the way that this is coming together, and think it would be really cool to get a Melrose alternative to the downtown traction wall.

Click below to see what's happening with the new action.

^New art on the bottom left with the 'D' and girls screaming (also pictured below). And, a bunch of pieces got ripped. You can see the head (think its from Push), BC and Cibass all got torn.

^Screaming girls with a button that we think says 'I love Subtle'.

^New stuff from 2wenty up top, joining Push, Zombie, Cyrcle, KilleD and more.

^New piece from Morley saying, 'In heaven, we all get a soundtrack'.

Barracuda Is Full Of Characters

Some new characters popped up on the back wall of De La Barracuda. Click the jump for more

Not sure who the artist is?

Bigger, Higher, Slammed

The parking lot next to De La Barracuda is filled up with street art once again. It is slammed, and bigger and higher than ever.

There is a bunch of new stuff, including a high up piece that looks like it might be from famous graffiti writer Push. Click the jump for more

This should be a daily update of the new stuff on this wall. Look below for pics of the new stuff.

^Is this Push from the Seventh Letter ?

^Push, Cyrcle, Zombie and unknown carrot character

^KilleD, Dint Wooer Krsna and ?

Eine Is Back in Los Angeles (We Rock Hardest!)

British street artist Eine is a former assistant to Banksy and master of typography in his own right. He has a show opening in San Francisco this week, but he still made time to come down to LA to put up some new art. Click the jump for more

Eine did this piece at De La Barracuda, thus the lettering.

We love this colorway.

And Eine has left his mark on the area. He rolled through last year and decorated dozens of store fronts with big, bold, brightly colored letters in the Melrose and Fairfax area. And most of them are still riding.

We dig it, and its great to have Eine back in Los Angeles. Even though he put the piece up in San Fran, we think that here in LA, we rock hardest~

Bod Bod At Barracuda

Cool new mini-combo from Bod Bod at De La Barracuda. Click the jump for more

Really dig the energy in these stickers.

With street art from Septerhed, Dint Wooer, Goober in the background, and MacBeth graffiti pictured above.

Free Humanity and JR

The box in front of the wall at De La Barracuda is a prime spot to hit because the placement gets incredible pictures with the ever-changing awesome murals.

Here is Free Humanity posting up in front of JR.

JR Comes to Melrose~ Action Shots!

JR came through our neck of the woods yesterday and put up a beautiful piece of street art, replacing the Obey/Saber mural at De La Barracuda.

It is a real honor having JR right in the hood. Love it~ Click the jump for more exclusive first jump action shots from MELROSEandFAIRFAX.

We snapped most of these shots ourselves (big thanks to John Wellington Ennis for the beautiful nighttime shot), but we couldn't have done such comprehensive coverage without the readers of the blog helping out in such a huge way.

So swing by Melrose to see this beautiful new piece from JR. Keep sending us those pics!

NBA V.I.P. Party @ De La Barracuda

The parking lot next to De La Barracuda is often filled with street art, however, it got tented up the other day, and we found out today that it is a pop-up party venue playing host to the V.I.P's that are in LA for the NBA All-Star Weekend.

We hear that Lil Wayne and others were there partying last night, and the party is supposed to keep rockin through the weekend.

The Cobrasnake Gets Trashed

Actually, even though The Cobrasnake is the original and top party photographer in the game, he doesn't get trashed to do it.

The Cobrasnake doesn't have to drink to party, he simply brings the party, like to this little spot here~

(Also notice the De La Barracuda sticker on the Range Rover in the background)

Fresh Street Art at De La Barracuda

The main wall got buffed, but strangely enough, it seems the buffers selected the pieces they liked, and those they did not paint over.

Also, even though the buff is just a day old, new art has already sprung up . . .

The street art that survived the buff is the ASVP piece on the pole, Mar up top around back, the Macbeth graffiti cat by Dan Smith, and a Hugh Lee Man piece in back.

New stuff sprouted up already from Alec, AJL, and Bran One TRB. It looks like Alec's Monopoly Man face has been filled in and AJL's girl has had some white modifications.

De La Barracuda Buffed-Call for Walls!

The far wall in the parking lot next to De La Barracuda has been buffed.

Oddly enough, they buffed everything except the piece of MacBeth cat graffiti on the wall.

This wall does not belong to De La Barracuda. Not sure who manages the wall. It does make us a little sad to see it buffed. It was full of art and we were hoping it would turn into an ever-evolving art wall, the Melrose version of the wall downtown.

***If any business owners have a wall they would like some art on, send us an email***

Stop Whispering, Start SHOUTING!

New street art from Leba that says "Stop whispering, start shouting!"

With stickers in the background from Bankrupt Slut, Visual Narcotics, Expensive Taste.

Another pic with a grip of new art inside. Click the jump to peep it

At De La Barracuda, Bran TRB, Cyrcle, The Status Faction, Zombie, Jack Pot, Almost Famous, Efurt, and a couple more

Graffiti Mickey

Here is a shot of the original graffiti Mickey Mouse in Los Angeles. Apparently done by the Seventh Letter crew.

Similar, and most feel that it is a stronger piece than the similar David Flores version on the wall of De La Barracuda.

Next to a Bear by Phil Lumbang.

Qtip Breaks Free! (Cat in the Rain!!--with a Hippo!?)

^We got an email from a reader telling us to check out the De La Barracuda parking lot, because Herbert the Hippo had left a little message for Qtip.

We waited for a lull in the rain, and then headed out to check it out. Qtip is snug as a bug in a rug tucked inside the jacket to begin with.

^We found Herbert the Hippo enjoying the rain

^and then we spotted the dope message from Herbert to Qtip.

Qtip loved the sentiment! Happy New Year, Herbert!!"

^It had started to rain, but we pulled Qtip out of the jacket for a quick pic-

^She didn't like the rain, and started to squirm

She squirmed out of our hands, and out of the harness. Holy shit!! Cat on the loose!

^Qtip hit the ground running!

^Then she hit the alley, and tried to decide which way to go. . . .

. . . then straight bolted!

^But this cat has been raised well, so instead of running into the street, she hit the sidewalk and headed up the block.

At this point, it looked like Qtip was pretty safe (and wet! lol), so we let her keep strolling off leash. She walked for 3 blocks off leash. We shot a quick 30 second video of Qtip walking off leash in the rain. Check it out~

QTIP OFF LEASH IN THE RAIN VIDEO

And Qtip says thanks to Herbert the Hippo! That message was awesome!!!
