Dissizit Takes Dissshit Back

We thought it was cool to have Twist and crew roll through town, but the Dissizit crew didn't appreciate their 2-day old wall getting capped in the process. So they came and took it back.

Twist & Co. were going wild, and getting loose. Sometimes too loose, as in the capping of the Skullphone piece up top.

And the Dissizit crew thought they'd do something about it. They came back to the wall, and Prime, Defer, Ha, and Slick claim back the ground level space on the mural wall.

De La Barrracuda Gets - A Barracuda!

Slick returned to the wall at De La Barracuda with his crew, and added some graffiti and a big barracuda to the front of the building.

Really beautiful fish.

Think Slick has the 'S' on the far left, and not sure who the other letters are from.

And its an interesting wall the way the pieces come together. Not sure if this is the finished version or if more of it will get filled in.

Slick LA

Slick gets up at De La Barracuda the day after JR was buffed.

Notice the cool tattoo on the back of the dude's head on the right. Very LA~

This piece is not a wheat paste, it is hand painted. We didn't see the piece go up, but we are assuming the painting was done by Dissizit frontman and graffiti guru Slick.

Dis Is It?

A big LA hand from Dissizit went up on what was once the JR wall on Melrose. Love the piece, don't love the placement.

We know that Slick runs Dissizit, and we are assuming, he puts up the street stuff (along with his home boy Enik).

We know that Slick has been around for longer than most in the graffiti game, and has done some really impressive things. And on a personal note, we really dig Slick's aesthetic almost no matter what he does. The dude's got a great eye for what looks fresh, and even when his style changes, his shit always pops. Truly, Dissizit puts out some dope stuff, and it is one of the few street corporate campaigns that we enjoy seeing out there, and feel it really contributes to the scene and adds to the flavor of the streets.

We are a bit surprised that Slick would have clipped (or capped-can't really tell) a writer to put the piece up, and so many other artist's stickers and tags with monstrous stickers. After seeing this, and the recent Madonna/Dissizit art wall takeover downtown, it makes us wonder if this is contributing to the scene? or just straight advertising?

And we dig Slick's LA hands. It is an awesome fuckin image (and we even tried to score one of the 'Goldfinger' LA Hands vinyl toys but struck out!). It represents LA well, and we love seeing it, but we just don't think that the JR mural is the place for it.

Still, that said, since the JR mural seemed to get opened up anyway with the David Flores work and throwies at the bottom, maybe this is fair game. And it is cool to see the stamp of 'LA' on a JR (we love the photos!).

What do people think about this? Is it advertising? Does it add to the piece? Is the JR wall free game now?

Slick - Rebuild Nippon

Some street art from Slick to support Japan.

Great cause, and cool image.

Waterworks

Every piece in this pic seems to be dripping, or leaking something. Click the jump for more

The LA hands in the middle are from Slick, but not sure who the face is with the dripping eyes, or the pretty blue paste that looks like an old water color.

In downtown Los Angeles.

Get Up, Stay Up

This sign in downtown Los Angeles is all tagged up with graffiti and stickers.

Slaps and tags from Slick, Gaig, Arden, Paz, Zeal, Love Crew, Newt THR, NMG, Gats, Acroe, Ekul, Crabs, Tusk, NHD, Nuek, Esro, Hotel, MTA, Kasoe, BK, and a few more.

Can't Stop the Coming

Or the cumming, either.

Hand drawn sticker from unknown artist.

Street Art in the background from Slick, Moe, Zombie, Inept, NMG, Filth.

Stencil Sticker Combo

Here is another set of hand made stickers from AJL.

These girl stencils stickers are comboed up on this pole on Melrose.

We have really been impressed by AJL. Each time he brings a new 'look' to the street, and each time its quality~

In front of street art from The Status Faction, Slick, Michelle Monica.

Stay up

Echo Park Art Wall

Art all over the place.

From low_d, Hugh Lee Man, Zombie, Slick, Free Mndz, Calli Killa, My Grandma Needs Safe Access, Laser, and Martin Luther King Jr. (its been posted but forget the artist?).

No Bonus Points

^This one we liked at first . . .

^what's the best way to make sure your stuff doesn't last on the streets? -go out of your way to needlessly mess with graffiti writers

^run outta black paint here?

^dig this. This is what its about. adds to the flavor of the street.

^And this going over Mar is ridiculous and unnecessary.

These stencils by an unknown artist showed up one morning on Melrose.

When we saw the first one, the blue one, we were impressed. We liked the color, the going big, and even the face.

But as we continued on our walk and saw more, we became less and less impressed with the stencils (due to the placement). By the end, the face seemed to be straight leering at us.

We've said it before- there are no bonus points for going over.

Instead of participating in street art, this artist seems to resent other artists, ANY other artists from doing it.

Fortunately, the streets have a way of working themselves out, and when you go over shit, your shit will be quickly gone over.

Don't hate the player, or the game. Just play, don't hate~

Peeping Tom in LA

Peeping Tom with one of Slick's LA hands on the front of SportieLA.

Stickers and tags in the shadowy door to the right by Eyeworm, PBR, SGK, The Seventh Letter, Borat, Kohz, Gehz, Shie, Sugar, College Fresh Clothing and a few more.

Where's My Hippo? -Herbert Gets Fancy

Herbert the Hippo got all fancied up and brought a pretty lady friend out for a night on the town.

Dressed to impress in a tux, Herbert and Friend get waaay up on this pole in the parking lot next to De La Barracuda.

Dig the digs, and great placement~

This parking lot is really full of life with a giant TSF spray piece, MacBeth graffiti piece, Slick Dissizit LA hands, Bran TRB tag, Uncle Sam from Zombie and Pacman of death.

Cool stuff.
