Snyder's Sharks

Amazing new pieces from Snyder, and a beautiful description of the motivation behind each piece.

Two new amazing pieces of street art from Snyder, each one highlighting a different aspect of what the artist strives for when placing a piece.

Snyder says that the shark pieces were implemented in the streets and designed to go up together as a commentary on his two main objectives when placing art in the streets.

Snyder says 'The weathered wall shark describes my goal of creating a relationship between art and its natural environment. The La Brea Shark demonstrates my passion for the creative process- the amount of time, effort and artistry invested in each single piece'.

The weathered shark and fish feature stenciled characteristics, while the La Brea shark features Snyder's personal drip stencil aesthetic. Very impressive stuff, and a great demonstration of cognitive street art. Snyder has been killing it on the streets recently, and we look forward having Snyder in our upcoming show, featuring the best street artists in Los Angeles.

The Magnified Stencil

New stencil on Melrose. It features a little boy squatting over with something in his hands. Not sure, but it looks like he might be holding a magnifying glass, as little boys sometimes do, when they are burning leaves or ants.

Stenicled 'Cali' next to it. Not sure if its Cali Killa? or someone else?

Why Does The Caged Bird Sing?

It sings cause it got free.

Interesting new stencil just went up in Los Angeles. It features a bird sitting atop some sort of crazy looking mechanism that looks like it is aimed at some birds below. It is raw, and creepy, but we dig this piece for some reason.

Unknown artist.

The Newest Banksy Fakesy's Not Foolin' Anyone

We got some info late last night from Banksy Hunter Keith Toll, who is still doing an amazing job hunting Banksy, and chased down this new questionable piece, this time through his contacts. Keith's contact was reporting that he had just seen some new Banksy pieces go up on La Cienega Friday night, so new that the paint was still fresh.

The Banksy Hunter notified us and got photographer Listak to head over and snap some shots. Listak reported that the cops showed up soon after and were wondering if anyone had seen the stuff go up saying 'This wasn't here yesterday'.

But even though these are definitely Banksy images, and people wanted it to be a Banksy, we are highly doubtful that these are Banksy pieces. From the way the stencils are (not well) done, to the fact that they are on glass, to the way that it combines multiple famous Banksy pieces randomly together, this clearly is not Banksy. And the way all of it is cleanly located on one store front makes it seem like it could be an advertising gimmick.

Apparently, a few people did see the art go up. And what is interesting is that if this was an advertising gimmick, it was made to look like it was a street bombing.

But still, this one didn't fool anyone, and even LAist is calling it 'Banksy-esque'.

Street Art Sunflowers

Snyder came up to LA yesterday and put up some new pieces of Sunflower streets art.

Each of these features Snyder's personal drip technique, and is acrylic latex dripped through stencil onto paper and onto wood
bench constructed in half.

Dig how the bench comes off the wall. Very cool stuff from Snyder, one of the best parts of the scene and one of the few street artists who have been taking things to the next level. We are thrilled to have Snyder in our upcoming street art show 'What Graffiti is to New York - Street Art is to Los Angeles'.

MELROSEandFAIRFAX contributor B. Land is shown snapping pics in front of the piece.

A Babe's Butt - The Real Forbidden Fruit

Getting Fruity~

In addition to Free Humanity's recent forbidden fruit street art piece that even got the bomb squad called out on it, there is another piece of apple themed street art that is stopping traffic.

Here is Miss California Contestant Alara Ceri and her cherry butt posing with another apple hanging from the tree.

The apple and tree stencil appear to be by street artist Keeper. Up with Desire Obtain Cherish. Indeed~

If you like what you see from Alara, show her some support and become a fan of her Facebook Page.
