The Green Scene- 90210 OG

Another segment in our periodic series 'The Green Scene', where we review different strains of Medical Marijuana in California.

The past week, we have really enjoyed smoking on some fresh 90210 OG.

90210 OG is a indica/sative hybrid.

The Buds: 90210 has a strong pungent smell in the bottle and a mild taste when smoked. The buds crumble easily but are very sticky and leave a trail of resin wherever it is broken up.

Effects: The experience begins with a cerebral effect, followed by a gentle body high. It is great for medicating body pains or headaches. It provides a powerful high, without the side effect of being drowsy.

Recommendation: Very strong. Great daytime selection for those who want the body effects of an indica, without the sleepy side effects.

This 90210 OG is top shelf, and has been tested as having 19.87% THC. If you get the chance to medicate with any 90210, we 'highly' recommend that you do!

MELROSEandFAIRFAX is honored to announce that we are sponsoring Alara Ceri for Miss California USA 2012.

Street art has been blowing up on a huge scale, and we are thrilled to throw our support behind Alara as she competes for the Miss California crown in the Miss USA competition.

Alara's beauty speaks for itself. Gorgeous hair, sexy legs, smoldering eyes--she's got it all. There have been many 'graffiti girls' before, but there has never really been the sex appeal brought to street art. Well, Alara is the first street art model, and we are bringing it!

Alara is a talented actress, and she is going to join us for photoshoots staged around street art periodically. The streets will shine brighter with her in the picture. And Alara is also giving back to the scene and is already working on plans to to bring a community piece of participatory street art to the women's shelter where she performs volunteer work. She also has ties to the community as she is friends with Gregory Siff.

This is super exciting, and Alara has already made it past the first round, and is now in the exclusive pool of approximately 100 contestants for the title. We couldn't be more happy to team up with her in this campaign. The Green Scene- HAPPY 420!!

Today, 4/20, is somewhat of a holiday for those in the marijuana subculture, and folks are lighting up all across the globe.

We are burnin' like Bob Marley today, and to continue on our semi-regular feature called 'The Green Scene', we are excited to review the weed we are smoking today--Mary Jane's OG.

Words fail to describe Mary Jane's. Mostly because it is a knock out strain, and it is so heavy that words are hard to come by, period. Mary Jane's is not for light weights. Or sativa lovers. This is the stuff you take to lay down and take a nap. It has a great body high, and is doing a good job relaxing the muscles in a strained back. And its got great flavor all the way through the bowl.

Got a fat blunt rolled up to celebrate 420. Today's the day, so, fire it up and smoke it if you got some!

The Green Scene- California Medical Marijuana - Skywalker

MELROSEandFAIRFAX is going to start a new occasional feature called 'The Green Scene' where we cover and review our favorite strains of Medical Marijuana in California.

We are going to start this series right at the top, with our very favorite all-time weed, Skywalker.

Coming from out of state where we used to have to self medicate with whatever the 'dealer' had in stock (marijuana being an illegal drug most places and therefore requiring a street dealer to acquire it is just another bad side effect caused by it being against the law in the first place--but that is another issue in and of itself), it is a very cool thing being able to go into a clinic and find the same strains, and knowing what to expect from the medication each time.

Hands down, our favorite all time weed is a strain known as 'Skywalker'.

Skywalker is a hybrid, roughly 80% indica and 20% sativa. And when it is smoked it, Skywalker has both the heavy, relaxing qualities associated with an indica, as well as the more uplifting, 'zippy' feeling that comes with a sativa.

The reason that Skywalker is our favorite is that it is super powerful, and one of the only strains that we don't seem to build up a big tolerance to. It remains a heavy hitter even after being smoked for weeks straight.

It tastes great when smoked. Full of flavor and tart. And this is a particularly good batch with firm dense nuggets loaded with THC crystals (Click the last pic to see what we mean!).

If you have your medical marijuana license and haven't tried Skywalker yet, we 'highly' recommend you do so~

We are not even sure if this is legal or not? If someone has a valid prescription for medical marijuana, is it okay to smoke in areas where cigarettes are permitted?

Jerry Brown Threatened in Orange County- Quit Giving Graffiti a Bad Name!

Some asshole with a spray can and a limited spelling vocabulary has written some threatening messages in Orange County towards California Governor Jerry Brown, and nearly every minority group one can think of.

We are just as pissed as anyone and hope this asshole gets caught-too often any thing sprayed gets classified as 'graffiti' and he's giving graffiti writers a bad name. Furthermore, this isn't even graffiti because the hack didn't sign a name . . .

The police are reportedly taking this threat against the Governor seriously-perhaps more than necessary, and have determined it a terrorist threat.

Interesting that even though the vandal-and this person is nothing but that- issued threats against Blacks, the Chinese, Catholics and more, it is only the threat against the Governor that is being treated most seriously. We highly doubt this person who can't spell could organize anything well enough to successfully harm the Governor, but the minority groups are much more real targets, even if the police don't treat it that way.

But most of all, it pains us whenever something like this gets a lot of publicity. Most people just clump anything with a spray can as graffiti-and think that all graffiti is gang related. Blogs like MELROSEandFAIRFAX are trying to push artistic mediums like graffiti and street art and enhance public perception, and we feel that fiascos like this give real graffiti a bad name.

Real graffiti has nothing to do with this hate speech or gangs. Real graffiti is about artistic expression and getting up. The biggest crime involved is the re-attribution of space, and unlike any other crime in the world, a graffiti artist will take nothing and leave their name at the scene of the crime.

This is not graffiti, but just some spray-can vandalism by a bigoted simpleton.

Quit giving graffiti a bad name!

Not to say that all dispensary's are in this condition. This one closed down after the city council modified the code back in June, thus the dilapidated condition of the now-vacant building with broken windows.
