Banksy Revisited

Banksy's Crayon Soldier piece is now long gone (for the most part), but we have been left with 'Kermanent' brain damage, and a tribute wall has been left around the resting place of the fallen soldier.

A very impressive selection of art, set in a building that really allowed the work to shine. Great crowd, and the whole show was put together and curated by Cibass.

Old School Street Art Meets New-Zombie Meets Mr. Brainwash (and Andre!)

Followers of the blog know who Zombie is. He has been steady smashing the city for the past year. And everyone knows who MBW is. The old school street art met the new school street art when Zombie got the chance to hang out with Mr. Brainwash--and Andre.

Zombie said he ran into Mr. Brainwash at his wall, and when Zombie asked him about the new Space Invader, MBW said "Oh yes, he is my friend," and said that Invader and Andre were in town until Sunday.

He then suggested that if they wanted to see Andre in action, they should head down to his old Miles Davis wall on Melrose, where Andre was doing a new piece. So Zombie headed over to the spot and caught Andre as he was working on his 2nd massive 'Annabelle' graffiti piece on Melrose.

Zombie said that both MBW and Andre are nice, rad guys. And Mr. Brainwash hooked Zombie up with about 10 posters, and signed many of them to him personally. Zombie traded MBW some prints in return. When they met up with Andre, he painted one of his characters on the back of one of the posters, and hooked them up with a few empty's and even a few full paint cans.

Very cool thing. What a great story and awesome hook up, where old school meets new, and new is blown away by the kindness~

Hooked Up- Zombie (pt 2/2)

In addition to the goodies shown earlier, Zombie also hooked us up with this incredible framed painting and a sick print.

Apparently, the dude is Jesus, but we always assumed he was Chong from Cheech & Chong fame. Smoke em if you got em!

Hooked Up- Zombie (pt 1/2)

Zombie hooked us up with a HUGE surprise hook up out of nowhere.

Zombie has been getting up all over town. Ever since he first blast out onto the scene with his brightly colored Mel Gibson pieces, Zombie has been getting up all over LA. We have been big fans of his work and covered a lot of it on the blog.

A few days ago Zombie hit us up and asked if he could drop something by. We said 'sure' and expected a print or something. But Zombie hooked it up mega phat--prints, stickers, a canvas, and even a framed piece!

In this part one segment, Zombie hooked us up with a hand painted Mel Gibson print, a hand splattered Mel, and a massive beautiful canvas with Zombie's new image featuring 3 the legs of girls in jeans.

Awesome stuff. We were blown away by the generosity. Fuck yeah~ Thanks Zombie!

Daily Barracuda Update

There really does need to be a daily update to the changes in the art in this parking lot. There is always stuff happening, and the new changes include the drama of stuff being ripped down, and new art from 2wenty, Subtle, Morley and more.

Love it or hate it, this place gets slammed.

And while the placement is definitely not structured, we are diggin the way that this is coming together, and think it would be really cool to get a Melrose alternative to the downtown traction wall.

The parking lot next to De La Barracuda is filled up with street art once again. It is slammed, and bigger and higher than ever.
