Space Invader Gets Zapped

A long time installation from Space invader got taken off this wall on Sunset.

While it is easy to understand how someone would want a piece of street art, or a Space Invader for that matter, it remains puzzling why someone would take an installation like this. Since none of it is attached, without the shape of what it is, once you take it off the wall aren't you just left with a pile of tiles?

The remains are up with Bankrupt Slut, Koffinz, and ASVP.

***Big thanks to BluBuni for the pics and title***

Pics from Street Heart Art Show (pt 1/2)

Checked out the 'Street Heart Art Show' earlier tonight.

Cool stuff from Cyrcle, Desire Obtain Cherish, Alec Monopoly, Zombie, 2wenty, Destroy All Design, Septerhed, Koffinz, Dog Byte, Cibass, and a few more.

A very impressive selection of art, set in a building that really allowed the work to shine. Great crowd, and the whole show was put together and curated by Cibass.

Enjoy the pics~

Los Angeles Street Art Hits San Francisco (pt. 2/2)

Action shots!

More pics of Los Angeles street art hitting San Francisco.

A lot of people have been griping about placement, but from what we understand, the weather was awful and that played a factor in things.

And why not take the word of one of San Fran's top street artists D Young V left in the comment section of part one. According to him, LA got up!

Los Angeles Street Art Hits San Francisco (pt. 1/2)

Los Angeles has made a name for itself as the top place for street art in the world, both in quality an quantity. And the art in tinseltown was so prolific that it couldn't be contained within city limits. Street art from some of LA's top street artists just spilled into San Francisco. Really cool stuff with LA artists holding it down in San Francisco.

We hear that it was an epic trip where everything that could go weird did, and even the pasting was done in a sideways blizzard. But still, LA left a big mark on San Francisco.

Street art from LA artists Circle, 2wenty, Swift, KilleD, Koffinz, up with two of the bay area's top street artists D Young V, Eddie.

There is also a cool action shot below of ? and Eddie Cola.

Impress Yourself - Love The One You Hate The Most

Lotta action on this wall with new street art and graffiti from Septerhed, Kaos, Keeper, and more. Click the jump for more

Two separate pieces of graffiti, one saying 'Impress Yourself' and the other 'Love The One You Hate The Most' with a cool character next to it (unknown artist).

Also interesting how the Kaos piece is cut out into a skull face and then panelled up there.

^Septerhed capping Brody with a massive Ghost.

^cool graffiti character

^Cut out skull from Kaos, with Koffinz and KilleD hanging around.

^ Persevere tree from Keeper, Septerhed, Kaos, Koffinz, KilleD, graffiti, street art, Los Angeles, LA

More New Art at the Old Spagetti Factory

The Old Spagetti Factory on Sunset is at a great location, and developers are waiting to launch a big development at the site. But in the meantime, it has become a great showcase for the street art of Los Angeles. Click the jump for more

Even though it was recently buffed, a whole grip of new art has sprung back up on the building with a new piece from Obey, and new stuff from Help Desk, Rohg, KilleD, Common Cents, Free Humanity, Armo, Varp, Koffinz, OhGeezand a few more

^Camera is by new street artist 'Help Desk'.

Ripping Down Signs To Get Street Art

This is the sign we posted earlier this week with street art from Blinky put on it. It looks like someone ripped down the sign to try and get the art. Click the jump for more

This is speculation, but the sign was riding only a few days ago. We are guessing that someone broke down the sign to try and take it, but since the sign is so big (it wouldn't fit in most cars, or even on the roof of most vehicles), it looks like they gave up on that idea, and then tried scraping the Blinky heads off.

It was left here to die, and then got tagged over a few times.

Also, new tag from Berbo on the wall. Joining 2wenty, Facebook, Charlie Sheen, Tiger Blood, Common Cents, Swift, BC, Dint Wooer, Koffinz, Killed, Felix, Bankrupt Slut. And notice how many advertisements are popping up as well.

Huge Street Art Combo (pt 1/2)

It is really cool how these spots pop up all of a sudden. And this wall has been slammed with street art the last few weeks, with seemingly everyone in LA getting up. Click the jump for more

And even though Banksy appears to be gone, street art is still a crowd phenomenon in LA. We don't know the guy taking pictures. He was just there on his own snapping flics.

A ton of fresh new stuff has gone up on this wall. Street art from Bankrupt Slut, Dint Wooer, Brody, KilleD, Koffinz, Swift, Herbert the Hippo, Septerhed, Common Cents, Swift, 2wenty, Charlie Sheen, Tiger Blood, Supreme, Zombie, TSF and more.

Dint Wooer Hits Los Angeles

New York based street artist Dint Wooer made a big run through Los Angeles. Dint Wooer, or Krsna as he is sometimes called, is one of NY's most prolific artists, and, quite literally, it is rare to see a shot of any spot in New York without a piece from Krsna in it. Click the jump for more

We dig the quirky characters and have mad respect for the way this dude gets up in New York.

It is great to see some of Dint Wooer's art on the streets of LA.

Pics From Street Art From the Crypt

Save the street art drama for your mama~

We had been kicking ourselves for not making it to the Septerhed/KH no. 7/Destroy All Design show last month at the 2Bad/Refresh gallery (we had a good excuse and thought we had a good chance of getting laid, orgy style, but that didn't pan out). We missed it, but it sounded like a great time, and so we wanted to make sure and catch the next show. And despite the drama, we had a really good time choppin' it up and viewing the art from Zombie, Koffinz, and KilleD at 'Street Art From the Crypt'.

The show was really cool, with lots of dope art work and a good turnout. We were especially impressed with how polished the gallery pieces looked compared to the street. It still captured the same feel as the street art, but in a way that was much more refined. Dig it~

As for the drama, we met two groups of people at the art show, the artists and the fans. And while it seems like the fans of street art are also big fans of the blog and had many nice things to say, on the other hand, it felt like nearly every street artist in LA was kinda bothered by our blog coverage for one reason or another. Some had good points and some didn't, and nearly all feel that we have been showing too much Banksy and not enough local flavor. Its good to hear the feedback, and we take to heart what people are saying.

While we completely understand people feeling burnt if we talk negative about something, or might not agree with this or that, what surprises us most are the folks who get upset when we try to give them positive coverage?! We don't get it, and if we still don't get it, send us a message. Whether you love M&F or hate us, its good to put that out there. Send us an email, or cap one of our stickers on the street. But make sure and leave your name so we know who its from. There is more than enough street art to give attention to in Los Angeles. Just let us know, and we are happy to shine the spotlight in a different direction.

Seriously, save the drama for your mama~

Street Art From The Crypt

Zombie, Koffinz and Killed are teaming up for what looks to be a dope group show called 'Street Art From The Crypt.'

We almost wrote 'team' show instead of group because these three have been killing the town together (pun intended), and often times put up some really cool collaborative pieces together.

Its perfect timing for a street art show, and we have no doubt this will be a big turnout.

The show opens Saturday, Feb 26 at the 2bad/Refresh Gallery located at 1228 W. 7th Street in Los Angeles.

Melrose and Fairfax

Here's a better shot of the art at the intersection of Melrose and Fairfax.

Street art from low_d, Koffinz, 2wenty, and a grip of stickers in the background.

Street art from Koffinz, Zombie, Hugh Lee Man, MCHN, Ahh'd Art.

Roost Above The Rest

Septerhed, Destroy All Design and Koffinz got together to throw down on a massive mural in Glendale entitled 'Roost Above The Rest'
We don't see a central theme-it looks like its from the streets and got bombed, and clearly that's what they were going for.

And amongst all these pieces are some new, and in our opinion, new favorite pieces that we've seen from each artist including a dope graffiti painted Koffinz character, a new raven logo from Destoyer, and a rat on a leash from Septerhed.

We haven't been out to Glendale to see this mural in person yet. Big thanks to Sept for sending over the pics~
