Jonny Style -Poor Penmanship- C+

A hilarious addition was put onto Jonny 'No' Style's mural, grading the piece with a C+, with obvious deductions being taken for grammar and penmanship.

Brilliant~

Hey Graffiti Guy - You Are a Fucking Asshole!

Lol.

On what is perhaps the last word on the 'Jonny No Style' saga, the entire wall has been buffed clean, and the only thing that is up on the now blank wall is a piece of paper that says "Hey Graffiti Guy! You are a fucking Asshole! Go deface some other wall!"

Bwahahahahaa

Bonjour Bitches

Don't know if this is for Jonny No Style, or maybe from him ~

On Fairfax.

I Just Want to Say, My Name is Jonny 'No' Style

In the week since Jonny buffed the wall on Melrose, it has been vandalized at least 3 times and is currently covered in silver spray paint . . .

Each time Jonny has come back to repair the painting, and then it gets smashed again. Well, to be honest, Jonny has shown more resolve than we expected.

And, we even saw what seems to be Jonny's first legitimate piece of street art - the rooftop piece pictured above, riding with Space Invader further down Melrose. We can give credit where credit is due, and can seriously give props to Jonny for hitting the spot.

Its a great spot, but to continue with the honesty, the piece is whack. Like we told you to your face, Jonny, you are a talented painter. You are very good at painting in the lines, better than most, no doubt. But, like we also told you, as an artist, you have no style.

Yours is the kind whose talents would be best suited serving on a production team for a big artist like Damien Hirst. You would do a solid and competent job cranking out the pieces as directed, but left alone, yours is without the higher qualities, the true style that separates a painter from an artist.

Every single piece we have seen from you is bland. It is as boring as boring gets. And since you have been set on sharing these banal paintings with Melrose, Melrose would like to give you a gift in return, we would like to give you a name.

Last week, if someone were to do a google search for Jonny Style, like we did, nothing would come up. But now, if and when people search your name, this article will pop up. People will read it, and know you forever more as Jonny 'No' Style.

It seems that all 5 foot 7 of Jonny is wrapped up with a Napoleon complex. We know that you are not yet done. You can hit all the spots you want. On the street, or on a legal walls. Write books. Do cartoons. And every time someone stares too long at your art, every time someone looks at you a little slanted, every time you think you someone smiles at your name- you will wonder if they are thinking that it has no style. They are, and you are a painter not an artist, Jonny No Style.

The current state of the wall is pictured below, spray painted over, and with paint drizzle remains on the ground.

Melrose says thanks for introducing yourself. Now, fuck off, Jonny 'No' Style ~

. . . Comes Around

Wow. It seems like half of Melrose was chompin at the bit waiting for Jonny 'No' Style to finish his mural, and the show of force is nothing less than impressive . . .

What goes around, definitely came around.

It all started when Jonny Style buffed and ripped down some dope street art at this spot the very next day after it went up. Well, Melrose talked back, and Jonny's mural was 'enhanced' back to the streets the very next day, in return.

We knew all along that it was only a matter of time before Jonny's mural got replaced-but we are amazed at how quickly it happened, and with the show of force from Melrose's street artists. We count no less than 8 separate artists who laid the smack down on Jonny Style the very first night. From paint to pastes to graffiti, the street art solidarity on Melrose amongst all different types of street art mediums is impressive.

Getting in on this action are KilleD, Mute, Koffinz, Zombiel, splatter paint, two separate tags, and X, who politely says "No Thank You".

All this action might confuse some people, but it is all about who has earned a place on the streets. True street artists risk violence, imprisonment, fines and abuse to put up their art. If you just roll up to a spot in the middle of the day, ask the owner for permission, bring out a ladder and start painting, then you are just an artist painting outside-not a 'street artist'. And if you roll up on piddly little scooter to start painting, you are just a fuckin tool~

And we realize that there might be some readers who might prefer a mural like Jonny's to street art, and if that's the case, you are definitely following the wrong blog~

We stand firmly with the street artists, and feel that Melrose is much better with Jonny absent, than any shitty Jonny absinthe~

Frog Face

Melrose has spoken, and even though Jonny Style's mural is not yet finished, it has already been tagged up . . .

Jonny angered a lot of local artists and street art aficionados when he took it upon himself to buff a burgeoning wall, and replace it with one of his murals.

What he put on the wall is exactly what we expected. Ripped off characters in stale packaging.

Its not awful, but its just not that good. Jonny has no name-even in France. An Google search doesn't even pull up one page of art on the first two pages, and after that, just like with his art, we got bored.

This early tag seems to suggest that after Jonny disrespected the true street artists up on the wall, he will find out what it means to put a piece on the street.

The Buffman Caught in Action - its Jonny Style--Get the Fuck Back to France!!

Jonny Style caught red handed buffing this beautiful wall on Melrose . . .

While driving home from the dentist this morning, we spotted some fresh new work from Mute and KilleD popped up overnight on the earlier posted 'One Sick Kid' wall. The new stuff looked awesome--but we didn't have our camera on us at the time, so we couldn't get any pics.

By the time we made it back with a camera, nearly all the art had been buffed--including the 2 brand new pieces which we hadn't even flicked yet, and we caught Jonny Style picking at the wall.

We were pretty pissed to see this going down. The wall was taking shape beautifully. We exchanged some pretty heated words with Jonny Style. He plans to put up a painting and claims that he is 'saving' the wall from posters.

Well, its amazing how quickly the tables turn. And while one piece from Jonny on Melrose might be charming, any more is already too much. We thought your scooter was quaint-now we know it is just your bitch-mobile.

What bothers us most about this buffing is his assumption that his painting is somehow 'better' than the fresh artwork that consistently turns up on this wall. We love the constant communication of the streets. We love new pieces, and especially big, collaborative walls like this one. No matter how interesting a painted mural might be, it is ultimately stale.

This all reminds us of when Kai re-appropriated a family wall earlier this year from an active artist spot, to a mediocre permanent mural. The difference here is that Jonny does not have the family ownership of the building to back him up.

As we told Jonny when we caught him buffing, the disrespect he has shown the artists of Los Angeles will undoubtedly be returned, and his piece won't last long.

We can say that we are no longer fans, and he can take his Faffi-rip off's back across the ocean to the land that might give a fuck. Melrose has plenty of style of its own, Jonny, and its way fucking cooler than what you bring to the table.

Get the fuck back to France, and good riddance~

^Getting heated always attracts the crazies. This dude heard us raising voices and appeared out of nowhere.

Jonny Style - From France to Melrose, Kalifornia

We chanced upon French street artist Jonny Style as he was . . .
fixing up his piece of hand painted street art on Melrose.

It had been tagged over, and Jonny returned to fix up his 'Kalifornia Special'.

Its great having a taste of France on Melrose. We love the scooter that he was riding on- so European! Thanks for sharing your art with Los Angeles, Jonny! In our book you are 'Just Cool'.
