Mr. Brainwash Getting Up - But Is It Him?

New Mr. Brainwash posters have been going up in Los Angeles, but is it Mr. Brainwash putting these up?

We know that Mr. Brainwash has a team that works with them, we are not asking if someone on his team put these up, we are wondering if these new pieces are from the MBW camp at all?

There are a few reasons why it seems suspicious. First of all, the material of the posters themselves. These are movie posters. They are printed in full color and have a gloss effect, which makes it hard for the glue to bond with and is essentially poor material for getting up on the streets. Back when Mr. Brainwash was getting up in LA, his pieces were clearly street oriented, so this doesn't make sense.

And secondly, street art seems to be like a recovering addict. You don't pick up taking a few nervous hits off the pipe, when you take a break you pick back up where you left off. And it doesn't make sense that after going big and smashing the city MBW would simply places a few measly posters around town.

So, someone's getting up with Mr. Brainwash posters, but is it Mr. Brainwash?

Mr. Brainwash puts up a fresh John Lennon themed piece on his studio wall in Los Angeles.

We got sent these pics from KR. He said, and we have heard this a few times, that Mr. Brainwash is extremely nice in person, and that he even went inside the studio to grab some free posters for KR and his friend. (pics coming later)

Mr. Brainwash Gets Protection

In what seems to be happening more and more, the street art stencils from Mr. Brainwash that went up last weekend got protected with plexiglass.

The two stencils feature a trophy from the Oscars, and a little boy with a camera.

We think it is a cool thing that more street art is being protected so that it can have a longer life be enjoyed by a wider audience.

Still, there is something weird about this new treatment of street art. We can't even put words to it. Its just a hunch, and it feels foreign.

Big thanks to Roky Manson for the scoop on the story and the pics. You can read more about Roky's experience seeing this go down and see more pics on his blog.

And, we tried a new kind of formatting when uploading these pics. We know that the files are huge (er, now they are small) and look crazy on the front page, but we think it looks funny and are going to let it ride. You can click them for a bigger image.

Melrose and Fairfax - The BEST Spot in LA

So Netflix recently released Banksy's 'Exit Through the Gift Shop' and we rewatched it after enjoying it during its release weekend.

And when Banksy came to LA Mr. Brainwash took him around to hit the best spots in LA. And while they played this clip, it was of Banksy's famous rat stencil on Melrose~

Take it from Banksy, MelroseandFairfax is the BEST spot to get up in LA~

Dear Mr. Brainwash - Your Favorite Artist Sucks!!!

Mar and Septerhed have a message for Mr. Brainwash and its not a flattering one.

Mar puts up a poster of Mr. Brainwash wearing a wig, essentially being given the Mr. Brainwash treatment. (we have seen color versions of this poster and it is a spin-off on Mr. Brainwash's pop culture pieces with a wig, eye make-up and lipstick.)

And Septerhed chimes in saying 'Your Favorite Artist Sucks!!!'

This is on the front of Mr. Brainwash's studio in Los Angeles.
