Banksy's Wife - Revealed!

^Supposedly, this is her.

Click the jump for more.

TheDailyMailUK is reporting that this is a picture of Banksy's wife, Joy Millward.

It might be true. It might not. We don't know what to believe, but we willfully put on blinders to info like this.

We still want to believe that Banksy is a some sort of mystical superhero and not a mere mortal who does things like get married.

But if this is the case, congratulations to the Mr. and Mrs. Bansky~

Banksy Responds to Oscars

Banksy finally responds to the Oscars.

Banksy finally issued his response to the Oscars, only the new piece is not in LA, it is in Weston, UK.

The SWNS broke the story that this new stencil has gone up so recently that the paint is still wet. It has not yet been verified on Banksy's website, but we think this does look like a Banksy.

This new piece features a little girl, who is assumed to be 15-month old Lara Egan, who dropped and damaged her fathers Oscar statue..

It seems that Banksy might have been a little bit put off by not winning the Oscar, and we were disappointed that he didn't issue a rebuttal in LA. This new piece seems to say 'I'm going to take my ball and go home', and at the same time poke fun at the very idea of the award.

Banksy has reportedly said, "The last time there was a naked man covered in gold paint in my house, it was me."

Mr. Brainwash Hits Up Hollywood

It seems that according to Mr. Brainwash, Banksy has already won the Oscar. Fresh new work from Mr. Brainwash in Hollywood. Click the jump for more on this MELROSEandFAIRFAX exclusive

Mr. Brainwash puts up new artwork with a little boy snapping pictures with a camera, and a Banksy-fied Oscar statue wearing a hoodie.

For those who are interested in seeing the Mr. Brainwash piece in person, it appears to located at 6675 Hollywood Blvd.

Big thanks to Christopher Listak for snapping the photos and sending these pics!

Where Is Banksy's Caution?

We always love to see pics that capture the surrounding area of street art because it really helps place the piece and give a feel for its environment. These panoramic shots really capture the area of Banksy's Caution.

And we would love to openly post the location, but we have received word that the owner has been contacted and might be taking steps to have this Banksy piece protected and preserved, so we are going to wait until tomorrow to try and give them a chance to do that.

Thanks to Rob Wade for the pics and info.

Banksy Chasing the Dream to San Diego?

TMZ is reporting that 'Banksy Strikes Again' , but we are not quite convinced. Click the jump for more

This piece that just showed up in Oceanside features a Banksy-styled rat, wearing 'Exit Through the Gift Shop' start glasses, and holding a kite string to a sign that has the same image as the 'Kite' image that was first seen earlier this week.

Its not so much the location that makes us skeptical as much as the content. What we have seen from Banksy so far in LA has been new images that say something. It is not always clear exactly what, but he has done new stuff and not relied or used his classic characters like the rats or monkey holding a sign. And the fact that this piece is a combination of 3 different Banksy pieces, it makes it seem more like a fan tribute than a statement by Banksy.

Also, the shading is different, and a Banksy piece usually has the whole thing shadowed in the stencil, and the white body and tail on this piece just does not fit.

Still, this does appear to be very well done, and the artist, whoever he/she is, most definitely deserves credit for a cool piece of art.

We could be wrong, but if we had to place a bet, that's where our money would go. What do you guys think?

Banksy Gets Saved!

Another Banksy gets boarded up, but this time its to protect it. Click the jump for more

Banksy's Crayon House Foreclosure got covered today - with plexiglass.

The owner of the building wants to preserve the Banksy piece and possibly sell it. And in the meantime, to protect it, he put up a layer of plexiglass in front of the piece.

We really like to see this proactive stance to preserve a Banksy piece, and hopefully this will work. It would be awesome if it could even be kept on display like this.

Big thanks to Dennis for sending in these timely shots. Way to be the man on the spot!

Well is THIS a Banksy?!

Another possible Banksy sighting, but this one is missing the yellow caution sign. Click the jump below for more.

This one appears to be the same stencil, but without the yellow back ground.

What do people think? Is this a Banksy? or a copycat?

Spotted by a_onsurez on the way downtown.

This Looks More Like An Elephant - Banksy

Another M&F exclusive. This shot looks more like an elephant than anything else. Click the jump for more

The angle of this shot really looks a bit more like an elephant~

We are not sure what Banksy's commentary on this is supposed to be, or if it is simply an example of his utilizing and calling attention to the strange and unusual structures in our society. It is a wild structure, and we have never seen anything like it. Especially puzzling how it is mounted yet still has wheels.

These pics were sent to us by the Banksy Hunter, Keith Toll. Keith's passion for chasing down Banksy and other street art has been nothing short of incredible, and we have thoroughly enjoyed following his hunts. And we've received another half a dozen emails from viewers telling us they met Keith while out on a hunt. His passion is remarkable, and if you see Keith, be sure and say 'hi'!

Keith even climbed up on the elephant and had this to say, "Someone finally came finally and snapped a shot of me. I climbed inside looking for Amy evidence he was there. Smelled like shit and looked like a homeless guy has been living there."

And the update on Keith's searches is that he is currently scouring Culver City or Burbank, or wherever the elusive 'Caution' Banksy might be. Happy hunting, Keith!

OMG! -It Looks Like . . . Another Banksy!

Another new stencil showed up in Los Angeles, and it looks like another Banksy!

The excitement continues! Click the jump for more

LAist is reporting that there may be another Banksy in LA, and we agree!

They received this pic from Mr. Longsworth's Posterous . We have not had a chance to snap shots yet as it is well outside our typical stomping ground (its located at Compton Ave and Washington Blvd.) , but we will have some new shots soon.

The pic shows a workman boarding up a crayon house in front of a little girl. Stay tuned for more!

Interesting stuff. We love street art that makes people take a minute to think, and this seems to do just that.

Dig it~

Banksy is Big News

Even the major news outlets are covering Banksy.

This van was setting up to broadcast from a spot near Banksy's Charlie Brown site.

And MELROSEandFAIRFAX has had its own share of International Press as we collaborated with major news outlets The Independent from London, and TheWeek.com.

Both of these are major news outlets and it was an honor to work with both, but being featured on TheWeek was a special treat because we grew up in a home that subscribes to the magazine, and we have great respect for it as one of the best news sources in this day and age.

Really Livin' the Dream - Up Close Shots From Banksy's Billboard

Banksy's 'Livin the Dream' billboard takeover got taken down today. But before it did, the folks at Jetset Graffiti climbed up to the billboard itself to get some up close and personal shots.

Click the jump below for more

Wow. These shots really give the flavor of the pieces in a new way. Love that thin white drip~

Jetset Graffiti has some really cool things going on, including organizing the 'Free Walls Project' in LA. The Free Walls Project has brought some of the world's biggest names in street art to Los Angeles, and offered them the canvas to work on. Just to name a few, Ron English, Kid Zoom, Insa and Roa have put up amazing work in LA thanks to the project.

Click the link to check out their website, and keep an eye out for more cool stuff from Jetset Graffiti in the future!

Possible 5th Banksy Piece in LA?

We have been getting a lot of buzz and received a half dozen emails about the sighting a possible 5th Banksy piece.

This is a beautifully crafted stencil, but this is not Banksy. It is a piece of street art by LA's own stencil guru, the aforementioned Dog Byte.

Click the jump below for more

Dog Byte has been killing the street art scene in LA for quite awhile. He's got a complete street game ranging from multi-layered stencils to stickers.

For those who aren't familiar with Dog Byte, be sure to search the blog to see more. He is one of LA's top aritsts, and a name to watch out for in the future.

***For those who want to see this piece in person. It is located on the front of Golden Apple Comics, at the corner of Melrose and La Brea.***

***Big Thanks to photographer 'Angie' and MELROSEandFAIRFAX supporter 'Ian' for the pic***

4th Piece by Banksy? -Banksy is Top Dog

Finding the Banksy's in LA has become like a treasure hunt!

We have been impressed and astounded by the strong community being exhibited during the chase, and thanks to alert MELROSEandFAIRFAX reader Jessica Alidio, it seems the 4th Banksy might have been found!

Click the jump below for more details and location!

Like all of Banksy's work, this is not signed, so we are not certain that it is from him. But we are familiar with most of the street art that goes up in LA, and do not recognize the style as a piece from anyone local. In our expert opinion, this is Banksy.

Based on the size of the piss alone we think this is Banksy. Banksy is the biggest dog with the biggest bark on the block, and apparently when the biggest dog takes a piss, he really marks a big territory. And Banksy has really left his mark on LA!

***It is located on Little Santa Monica Blvd in Beverly Hills. Building next to the Beverly Hills Sports Community Center. Thanks again to Jessica Alidio for the heads up!***

More New Banksy Street Art in LA - Charlie Brown (pt 1/2)

Banksy is up to more mischief in Los Angeles.

Click the jump below for more exclusive Banksy footage from MELROSEandFAIRFAX

Banksy brings out a Charlie Brown stencil holding a can of gas, about to pour.

We are not sure exactly what this piece is about, but we thought a shot staged with Qtip, the top Street Art Cat, really brings it to life.

***Ah, yes. An alert reader pointed out in the comments that this building has been burned, and there are clear singe marks coming out from under the boards on the front of the building. Thus, Charlie playing with fire. Thanks for the heads up***

***Big thanks to 'X' for the tip on the location of this new piece. He could help show Banksy around the rooftops of Los Angeles. Who knows, maybe he already is . . . ***

***This is located on Sunset Blvd in on the Sunset Strip, across the street from Pink Dot***

New Banksy Street Art in LA (pt. 2/2)

Superb location for Banksy. The placement in this alley is perfect. Its quiet enough to be discreet during the installation, but extremely public in that it is jutting out towards oncoming traffic in a busy little corner of Westwood. (we had the parking patrol come and try to give us a ticket while we were snapping pics)

And, having spent a semester living in London during college, this spot really reminds us of the feel of London. With the curvy, unusual streets, and topsy turvy alleyways, it carries the flavor of London perhaps more so than any other place in LA. Maybe Banksy felt at home, right here.

The piece is both fierce and playful, and we wish we had some kinds like the ones who flocked around for the photoshoot of Dog Byte's 'Welcome To The Jungle' stencil recently. We really love the splashes of color on the crayons~

Its Affirmed - New Banksy Stencil In Los Angeles (pt. 1/2)

Its official~

The biggest name in the game, Banksy, put up some new art in Los Angeles.

MELROSEandFAIRFAX has an exclusive jump on this piece. Click the below for more

Banksy has his fans and he has his detractors.

We are huge fans, and support Banksy not because he is a big name, but because his art is brilliant.

Most people think that any stencil is 'Banksy-esque'. But we believe that what makes Banksy's art so successful is not just the stencil, but the commentary.

Each piece of art is not just the image itelf, it incorporates an idea. And on this new piece in LA, we see Banksy demonstrating how a street artist fights his battles, replacing crayons in place of bullets. Truly, the pen is mightier than the sword, and this piece is yet another example why Banksy is tops in the street art game.

Enjoy the pics.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO SEE IT IN PERSON --This piece is located in Westwood on Kinross Street, in between Westwood and Glendon. Hurry, before the guards show up! (In response to the comments-We think that art is to be shared. We hope no one spot jacks this!)

***Big thanks to Frank 151 and MELROSEandFAIRFAX viewer 'Jon' who helped us track down this piece. And, as it turns out, Jon runs a dope website called FAIRFAX BY NIGHT which has some really cool, fashion oriented stuff. Its well worth checking out, and will have some more high quality Banksy photos later today. Click the link to see. Thanks Frank and Jon!***
